After you've figured out how to duplicate your lesson plan template to create this week's lesson plans, you can copy those lesson plans from one Canvas course to use in another Canvas course. For instance, let's say you have 4 Sections of 8th Grade Math and you've already written your lesson plans in one of your 4 sections. Now you need to copy that to each of the other sections so that you don't have to retype everything you've already written.
How to Duplicate Your Lesson Plan Template
When writing your lesson plans each week, you will need to Duplicate your lesson plans template in Canvas.
This will create a COPY version of the same thing.
From here, you will need to click the three dots, then select Edit to change the name of the lesson plan to fit your particular week.
Now your duplicated lesson plan entry has a new name and is ready to be filled in for the week.
How to Copy Your Lesson Plans To Another Course
Now, let's copy that to your other courses.
To copy a lesson plan, locate it in your Lesson Plan module and click the 3 dots to the right of the entry.
When you click the three dots, a drop-down menu will appear. Select the Copy To option.
Once you have clicked Copy To, a sidebar will appear.
Now, in another tab at the top of your browser, open the Canvas course you would like this lesson plan to be sent to.
Once you have that other tab with your Canvas course opened, find the URL (web address line) near the top of your browser. You will need to highlight then right click, select COPY to copy all the digits after the part that says "courses/"
Next, you will PASTE those numbers into the space that says SELECT A COURSE into the sidebar that appeared on your other tab.
This will send the lesson plan over to your chosen course section.
You will receive a message letting you know that the copy has started successfully.
When the module has completed copying to the course, it will appear in the specified area you indicated.
Copied items take a little while to appear, therefore, you may need to click refresh a few times for it to show up.
*You will repeat this process by inserting the numbers portion of each different class' URL (web address line) that you need this lesson plan to display in.
