From time to time, Canvas may experience some behavior that seems unusual. It could be a function that worked one minute and not the next. It could be a tab selected but the data not changing. It could be any number of small but frustrating things. Often these are minor in nature and have easy fixes.
We recommend trying a few steps to see what might work in the event Canvas behaves in an unusual manner:
1) Clear your cookies and cache
2) Try opening Canvas in a different browser than the one you're using. Most weeks, browsers and Canvas put out minor updates that sometimes don't communicate well with one another and create little hiccups for users. These are usually fixed in the following updates. Sometimes a good short term fix is to work in a different browser for a few days before trying to work in your main browser again
3) Another tried and true solution for all sorts of software/website hiccups is to turn your computer completely off, power it all the way down, then do a full restart.
If however, none of these efforts rectify the unusual behaviors you see in Canvas, it could well be that Canvas itself is malfunctioning at the source. To check this, go to:
4) Check Canvas Functioning Status by visiting the Instructure Outage Page
If it looks like this, that means all systems are fully operational:
Clicking into each (+) symbol will expand that area and give you more details.
Occasionally, you might see some other indicator that a portion of Canvas is indeed malfunctioning.
