To ensure that students are well supported in their academic pursuits and to gain a more comprehensive understanding of their performance, PLI requires notes for students whose overall grade average drops below 70%.
Canvas grade book does not default to provide a notes column so one will need to be triggered using the 'view' filter. Navigate to your course grade book. To view the notes column, you must click the dropdown arrow next to view, then click notes. This will populate a column in your grade book titled 'notes.'
*Note- Unpublished Assignments should be unchecked to be unselected (shown above)
Decide which student you want to leave a note for and click the note area next to their name. An editable box pops up and can now be updated. Keep in mind it has a 225-character limit. When you click out of the note box, the note automatically saves.
Your total column should be moved to the front (left side) view of your grade book.
To move your total column, hover over the right side space next to the word total. Three vertical dots will appear. Now click the three dots and a drop-down will appear. Then select MOVE TO FRONT.
The resulting view places your total averages next to each student's name.
