Roll Call Attendance
When a course is first created it has an entry in the Assignments Tab called "Roll Call Attendance". This is a very important entry in your course so please DO NOT DELETE this for any reason.
In the Assignments Tab, we need to move this into one of the weighted categories and place it at the top of the category.
While it does provide an important attendance recording function, we don't want it to affect any students' grades. So we will next need to change how it is applied in the Attendance Settings.
Click on the Roll Call Attendance Assignment on the Assignment page, then click on Edit Assignment Settings
On the assignment setting check the box that says "Do not count this assignment towards the final grade"

After:
After checking "Do not count this Assignment towards the final grade" scroll down on the settings page to select save to save this setting
To hide the assignment from students in your grade book, go to the Grades tab on your navigation and locate the Roll Call Attendance assignment in your grade book.
Select the three dots on the Roll Call Attendance Assignment and a drop-down will appear. Select "Hide Grades"
A sidebar will appear on the right-hand side of your screen and you will select "Hide".
This will now make the assignment not visible to students in the grade book (the crossed-out eye indicates the assigment is not visible to students). You will still see the assignment on your side when you are looking at your grade book. However, it will not count towards your student's final grade and it will not be visible to students. Please remember to NEVER DELETE the Roll Call Attendance Assignment as it will result in errors within your Canvas Course.
